lower hutt
1. blue-collar suburban outpost on the eastern side of wellington harbour at the south end of the Hutt Valley (aka "the Hutt"), population c.100,000
1a. the "mortgage belt".
1b. the bulk of Hutt City, alongside Petone, Taita-Naenae, Stoke's Vegas and Eastbourne
2. butt of wellington's jokes
2a. not that bad though
2b. although, if you google "bogan", you will discover a well-fitting hat.
3. source of a large chunk of wellington's population
